One of my kicks of 2007 was becoming a columnist for The Marketer, the monthly magazine for the 39 000 members of the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing).
The columns are short: just 500 words. This is a good discipline for getting an idea across quickly and simply. They are quite useful 1-pagers if you want to illustrate a point.
Here are the four published so far:
Show the money
: cut out the bull**** and buzzowords if you want to get the board on board
On Geeks bearing gift
: instead of tweaking last year’s marketing plan, creatively use the whole mix
Think less. Do more
: spend less time crafting written concepts, and bring your ideas to life
A brand is more than pretty packaging : helping senior management get that branding is more than logos
